IALT: reflect on our house meeting

Yesterday, afternoon at 2.30 PM every class in the school was spilt into our houses, for house meetings. At Tamaki Primary there are 4 different colours, with 4 different names which are..
  • Benghazi - Green
  • Tobruk - Red
  • Tripoli - Blue
  • Alamein - Yellow
In room 2 there was Benghazi which is the house I am in, but other than that.. from room 2-5 all the houses were put into their groups. Every year in term 4, we always have athletics, and whatever house your in is the house you support! The reason why we had house meetings, was because at our school... If you are seen consistently doing the right thing, by a teacher you will be rewarded with a token and you put it into your house box. At the end we count up all the tokens, and the winning house gets to decide as a team, something we want to do for 1 day! Obviously there were certain boundaries, but we were able to give appropriate answers. Last time BENGHAZI won, which was very exciting for us! We were giving heaps of different interesting entertaining idea's, but in the end we were able to problem solve! In order for everyone to do something fairly, we had a vote, and in the end we were able to decide on one thing.. Which was going to the pools, and eating pizza. So that means if we win next time, that is the reward we choose to have.

I think this idea of giving tokens, and winning houses getting to choose what they want for one day is amazing, this can and help our school! People will now be intrested of picking up rubbish, which would avoid land pollution, which our Inquiry topic. Today I was able to 1 token, from Miss Morrison because I was showing leadership skills, by making sure both classes room, 7 and 8 were behaving themselves, even with no teacher, in or around the classroom!

What are your thoughts on this?
Did you ever have houses, or colours similar like this?
