๐ŸŒŽHell's Bay The Shark Breaks World Record ๐ŸŒŽ

IALT: reflect on an article about how a shark Hell's Bay, broke the world record, and travelled half-way around the world in less than 2 years!

According to a scientists, in Florida Nova Southeastern University... A shark named Hell's Bay has just broke the world record of travelling 20,900km in less than 2 years. The article states that he basically travelled half the earth! It also states that they tagged, and just tracked the shark (Hell's Bay) in May 2015. He was in the coast of the Ocean City in Maryland USA, before taking off on his half-way around the earth trip finding himself north, which was along the eastern side of America. There are also some facts here about Mako Sharks which are that...
  • Mako sharks are well-adapted and active open water sharks.
  • They are excellent swimmers, reaching sustained speeds of 35 km/h with bursts to over 80 km/h.
  •  These sharks have rapid growth rates, twice as fast as some of the other shark species. Males mature at around two months, while females mature at about 2.6 months.
  • They usually grow to be around four metres long, and weigh over 500 kilograms.

One thing I enjoyed about this article, was finding out a shark can travel halfway of the earth in under 2 years. Shockingly I didn't even know a shark could travel 1/4 of the earth, until reading this article I now have a much better, and vivid picture set inside by head of how far a shark can travel!

It was a challenge in order for me to believe that a shark could travel that far, in the timeframe found, but in the end it was believable, and I now believe it.

Next time I would like to find out how short of a time, a shark can travel around the earth!
